Dmitry Balasñhenko, trainer and system administrator
of Information Technologies Department of the Belarusian State
University of Transport, became åðó absolute winner of the
first Belarus AdminChallenge 2010. Dmitry was first in two
nominations – “The Best System Administrator of the Republic
of Belarus” and “The Best Microsoft System Administrator”.
The AdminChallenge final took place on May 12, 2010 in Hi-Tech
Park and was organized by HTP Belarus and Knowledge Center.
234 system administrators from 16 cities of Belarus took
part in the competition. Based on the results of the qualifying
round 10 strongest competitors were invited to the final.
The finalists performed tasks on customizing infrastructure
of an imaginary enterprise, deployment of a corporate web-server,
configuration of Cisco network equipment and other.
Korneliuk Anton, fourth-year student of the Telecommunication
Faculty of the Belarusian State University of Informatics
and Radioelectronics, was second. Anton already has professional
certificates CCNA and CCDA.
Serhei Zhigirov, technical security equipment engineer of
Minsk Regional Institute of Education Development, won bronze.
During the awarding Serhei confessed that invitation to the
final came as a surprise and he is very grateful to HTP for
this unique opportunity to test and improve his professional
qualification.
All the winners of AdminChallenge were awarded with vouchers
for gratis training on any Knowledge Centre educational course.
Taking such authorized training courses gives opportunity
to obtain international certificates which are the best confirmation
of a high level of professional qualification.
All the finalists were awarded with prizes from HTP resident-company
VirusBlokAda Ltd., and the winners also received annual subscriptions
to ITBel magazine.

“The goal of the AdminChallenge was to promote the profession
of system administrator. The everyday work of system administrators
is mostly not evident, they are recalled only if something
breaks down. The AdminChallenge took place for the first time,
but judging by its results and comments of the participants
we hope that such competitions will be held on an annual basis
and the number of contestants will grow year by year”.
