УWe have crossed the psychological high. In 2016 the export totaled $820 million. In 2017 it rose by 25% to exceed $1 billion for the first time in the HTP's history. At the same time the output also surpassed $1 billion having increased by 20% last year. The key factor of success is one. At the beginning of last year the country's president sent a very clear message to the IT community: work freely, earn for yourselves and the country. The state will not interfere with you and will help you where it can. The word was backed up by the action. The president ordered a new decree. It embraced all the proposals suggested by the IT community. The decree was adopted. The IT industry felt this good and really sincere attitude of the state. And here is the result: for the first time in the history of the HTP its exports exceeded $1 billion. This is a success for both the HTP and the whole country because this $1 billion will be working for the Belarusian economy. The new decree has opened up new opportunities. Hence, there are fresh hopes for new successesФ, - noted Vsevolod Yanchevsky, Belarus Hi-Tech Park Director.
In 2017, the HTP created 5,160 new jobs, up 1.6 times from 2016. In late 2017, the HTP companies employed 32,600 specialists. Last year the HTP resident companies developed new IT solutions for domestic enterprises and organizations to the total tune of Br172.6 million, which was up 4% from 2016.
On 21 December 2017, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on the development of the digital economy. The document has created special conditions for the national IT sector, and also provided significant competitive advantages to the country in the application of the advanced blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence, and unmanned transport.
