Dr. Mahathir Mohamad Highly Appreciates HTP Development Prospects on European Scale

Valery Tsepkalo, Director of Hi-Tech Park Administration, recently discussed the HTP development prospects with Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Honorable Chairman of the International Supervisory Board of Belarus Hi-Tech Park. The meeting took place in Mahathir's headquarters placed in the famous Petronas Twin-Towers in Kuala-Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad held the post of Prime Minister of Malaysia for 22 years from 1981 to 2003, he is the long-term leader of the Non-Aligned Movement and the President of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Mahathir is the outstanding Malaysian reformer, whom the Malaysians in token of respect call Doctor "M". He has strong political influence and authority both in his country and abroad, takes part in various events on the invitation of international organizations and universities, renders advisory services to national and international companies and organizations.

On the invitation of HTP Administration Dr. Mahathir became Member of the International Supervisory Board of Belarus Hi-Tech Park and its Honorable Chairman.

During the meeting Valery Tsepkalo presented Dr. Mahathir with a copy of his renowned book "The Way Forward", which narrates about Malaysian transition from a backward agrarian country to one of the most dynamically developing and powerful nations of the world. The book was recently released in Russian by Belarusian publishing company "Harvest" with the support of HTP Belarus.

The Malaysian Prime-Minister highly appreciated the Park's perspectives of becoming the leader among European technoparks. He familiarized Valery Tsepkalo with the Multimedia Super Corridor of Malaysia, project implemented on his initiative. The MSC Malaysia represents a sort of informational Silicone Valley and consists of hi-tech cities Cyberjaya and Putrajaya. The Malaysian experience gathered while realizing this project serves as a reference point while designing and constructing Belarus Hi-Tech Park.

Special importance in Cyberjaya is given to creation of small innovative business. The "men of ideas" can rent offices with all the required equipment for minimal rent, get accounting and managing support in order to economically "get on to feet" and implement their innovative ideas.
  
There have been created all the conditions for major international IT-companies offices in Cyberjaya - transport infrastructure was developed, optical fiber networks were laid, a new international airport was constructed.

The accommodations for Ceberjaya workers are not only cheap and comfortable, but also allow minimize the domestic costs and the travel time. It's notable, that the city is run by e-government based on computer and web technologies. The public health is guarded by means of Telemedicine, which implies electronic medical cards-keeping, medical tests tracking and even counseling by the world best surgeons during the surgeries in Cyberjaya.

Putrajaya is called "city-garden", "intelligent city", "city aimed to the future". It's the new federal administrative centre of the country run by the first in the world "paperless" government.
