Smartphone Developed by Belarusian Student Acknowledged at Competition in USA

Uladzislau Hadalau, an 11th-grade student from Slutsk, won 3rd award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2017.

This is the fifth time Belarus team of young scientists – winners of the national Belarus Science and Engineering Fair – has brought home prizes and diplomas of the world's largest pre-college science competition.

This year, the Intel ISEF was conducted in Los Angeles, California, USA on May 14-19 and featured over 1,700 school students from 78 countries. Belarus was represented by Uladzislau Hadalau, an 11th-grade student of Slutsk Secondary School No.11, and Aliaksandra Kakhavets, a 10th-grade student of Zhodino Gymnasium No.1.

Aliaksandra introduced to judges her research on Goldenrod as a promisingraw material for national pharmacology and energetics.

Uladzislau demonstrated Airphone – a new generation smartphone he developed using cloud technologies and his own remote control protocol. The major advantage of the device is the use of a remote computing power which guarantees safety and provides a number of unique capabilities. Besides the 3rd place award, Uladzislau received a special award from Oracle for his outstanding project. Back in 2015, he was among the Intel ISEF finalistsas well, his project Artemis Web Securitybeing awarded a special award from GoDaddy.

Belarus Science and Engineering Fair is organized by the Hi-Tech Park and the Minsk Region Institute for Education Development with the support of the Minsk Region Executive Committee, and Intel.
In 2017, 137 science and engineering projects by students from all regions of Belarus competed, 48 projects being named finalists. Winners were determined in five categories.
