Belarusian pupils won six medals in the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad that took place in Santa Marta, Colombia, on 18-28 July, 2013. Annually each country is represented by a team of maximum six participants, coach and research advisor. This year the participants were offered six problems to solve. Tasks were traditionally chosen from various areas of mathematics, mainly geometry, number theory, algebra and combinatorics.

Belarusian team came took the following medals:

Gold:

Alexei Semchenkov, Minsk Gymnasium #41 (11th grade);

Silver:

Artem Zhuk, Minsk Gymnasium #41 (11th grade);

Dmitry Boborov, Minsk Gymnasium #41 (10th grade);

Bronze:

Bogdan Gilevich, Lyceum of Belarusian State University, (11th grade);

Elizaveta Dovgyalo, Lyceum of Belarusian State University, (11th grade);

Anastasia Zhirkevich, Bobruisk Gymnasium #3 (11th grade).

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) - is the World Championship in Mathematics for high school pupils. The First Mathematical Olympiad was held in 1959 in Romania; seven countries participated. In recent years, more than 100 countries from 5 continents participated in the competition. IMO Advisory Board approves the host country, enforces the rules and maintains the tradition of the IMO. In 2014 the International Mathematical Olympiad will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, and in 2015 - in Thailand.
