16 July 2014

Heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions discussed perspectives and measures to promote products developed by the HTP resident-companies to foreign markets with representatives of the Hi-Tech Park. The meeting was held on July 14, 2014 within the framework of the annual seminar of heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting, heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Belarus had a chance to learn about the development of the Belarusian IT cluster and received detailed information about the export potential of the HTP resident-companies. In particular, it was pointed out that the growth rate of software and services production in Belarus is 41%, compared to the status quo world`s 4%. Exports of computer services per capita in Belarus exceed that in India and the United States; thus, in 2013 it totaled USD 58.34 in Belarus, USD 40.89 – in India, USD 35.53 – in the U.S., USD 26.67 – in Ukraine, and USD 16.65 – in Russia.

Furthermore, unlike its Customs Union partners – Russia and Kazakhstan, Belarus has a positive balance of computer and information services per capita which exceeds USD 50. This means that IT products and solutions developed in Belarus fully cover the needs of the domestic market.

The issues of implementation of Belarusian software products and services were also addressed during the meeting: the HTP presented perspectives of custom software development and products developed by the leading Belarusian IT companies. The participants discussed a strategy for joint promotion of the HTP and IT industry to foreign markets and the development of programs in the field of public-private partnership.

Valery Tsepkalo, Director of the Hi-Tech Park administration, noted:

"Promotion of products developed by the HTP resident-companies to foreign markets is a joint task for the Hi-Tech Park administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Such events contribute to the success of the HTP marketing policy and help to expand its cooperation with foreign partners.

Moreover, from the point of view of the external positioning, the IT industry in our country is characterized by high quality and has a positive effect on the reputation of the Belarusian economy as a whole."

During additional meetings, representatives of the HTP resident-companies and heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions could discuss the possibilities to promote software products to foreign markets in detail.
