Atomic Keeper Education is designed for obtaining practical skills in accounting and control of nuclear materials, ionising radiation sources and radioactive waste. At the moment, the complex includes several dozens of different laboratory works that simulate accounting and control activities at the NPP-2006 project facilities. ‘For example, it can be used to study the implementation of national regulatory requirements for record keeping during accounting and control operations at the organisation level, prepare reporting documentation on accounting of nuclear materials, ionising radiation sources and radioactive waste, practice various technological processes at nuclear facilities, organise and conduct physical inventories, and generate reports for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),’ notes the deputy director of the Applied Systems Evgeniy Khadzhinov.

The complex is based on a high-performance server with a virtualisation system, in which Atomic Keeper accounting systems with configurations corresponding to the NPP technical process are deployed. The initial state of Atomic Keeper is prepared in advance for each laboratory work. The trainee has to fulfil the assigned task and prepare the required package of documents, which is submitted to the lecturer for evaluation. The correctness of work performance is automatically checked by the system by comparing the generated documents with the reference ones.

Automated workplaces are equipped with control, measuring and radiometric equipment necessary for the performance of training tasks, which allows students not only to theoretically master the technical process on the computer, but also to perform real actions with the equipment. At the same time, students are not limited by the time allocated within the academic schedule, they can perform tasks independently at any free time by connecting to the network.

The complex is an open system that allows modelling other types of plants and organisations, configure the operations to be performed, the layout of rooms and equipment, including interference indication devices, as well as the list of related documentation.

Atomic Keeper Education training and laboratory complex from HTP resident allows not only to acquaint students with real technological processes as closely as possible, but also to conduct high-level advanced training and retraining of specialists in accounting and control both for the nuclear industry and for other organisations - users of ionising radiation sources.
