HTP Residents Among World’s Largest IT Companies on “Software 500”

2 October 2009

HTP residents named to Software Magazine's Annual “Software 500” for the third year at a run. The “Software 500” is a ranking of the world’s largest software and IT services suppliers, published by Software Magazine, brand name in the high-tech industry. This year HTP residents EPAM Systems, Sam Solutions and Itransition were ranked 180, 357 and 409 respectively. EPAM Systems rose 10 points from the 190th line in 2008, Itransition rose 69 points (!) in 2009, Sam Solutions appeared on the list for the first time.

The rankings, published in Software Magazine’s September online print journal, include both private and public companies and are based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2008. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. The “Software 500" helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff to research and create the short list of business partners because it is a quick reference of vendor viability.

“Watching how companies move into and out of the software business sectors... is indicative of what’s in and what’s out in the software industry. When we combine that with a look at which sectors are adding or subtracting employees, we gain insight into some major industry trends,” says John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com. According to Desmond, “much of the growth in this year’s “Software 500” is the System integration Services/ IT Consulting and Outsourcing services sectors.”

The ranking revealed that the total 2009 Software 500 revenue is $491.2 billion. The growth rate has slowed down from 14.7 per cent in 2008 to 8.7 per cent in 2009. The total number of employees in the “Software 500” has increased by 26% percent, amounting to 3,8 million.

Belarus company IBA Group, two subsidiaries of which, namely IT Park and IBA Gomel Park, are residents of HTP Belarus, was also named to this year’s “Software 500” and was ranked 254.
