Japanese Companies Discovering IT Belarus

14 March 2016

On March 14, HTP Deputy Director Alexander Martinkevich and experts of the HTP resident-companies Intetics BelSynesis and BelHard Development presented the achievements and capabilities of Belarus Hi-Tech Park in Tokyo, Japan. The seminar was organized together with the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Japan and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to introduce the Belarusian IT industry to Japanese companies.

In his welcome speech, JETRO Executive Vice President Koji Yonetani remarked that there is great potential to expand Japan-Belarus cooperation in the field of information technology.

Alexander Martinkevich outlined the development of IT in Belarus; the HTP resident-companies described their products and software solutions. The presentations drew a lot of interest of Japanese experts and executives participating in the seminar.

During the visit to Tokyo, Alexander Martinkevich also met with Shintaro Hirato, General Manager to Digital Contents & Communications Business at Rakuten, to discuss development and cooperation plans (last year, the Japanese electronic commerce and Internet giant acquired the popular Viber messaging app developed in Belarus).
