Happy Knowledge Day!

1 September 2016

Knowledge Day is always a warm and especially exciting day to those who come to school to learn and get more and more knowledge.

Children who have started their way at school today will be active members of the society till at least the 2070s. So educators who are working with this year's first graders are actually creating the image of the next 50-60 years. We need to understand that education is not just to make children ready for their adult life and career. Education is not just to transfer knowledge and skills to children. Education is to design our future and the changes that will occur in our country in the next decades.

Our task is to help school students understand the significance of getting education and take it seriously.

Today, we need reliable people who can cope with complicated and meaningful tasks; we need people who think and work creatively.

The only way to “get” such people is to make changes to the education system so that the system itself contributed to the promotion of these values, educated young people and showed them how to communicate, cooperate, and find creative solutions.

We are leaving the industrial age in the past. Today we are living in the age of innovation development, in the age of technology; we are moving ahead with the knowledge economy. The school has to change, too. Information technology, innovation, and highly qualified teachers are the key to success of the education of tomorrow.

So the new joint educational project of the Hi-Tech Park and the Ministry of Education Programming is the New Literacy was launched to enable students to study programming as early as in grade 2.

Dear teachers! We congratulate you on the beginning of the new academic year! Let the lust for new knowledge be always in your hearts, and students' curiosity and appreciation be the best reward.

Happy Knowledge Day!
