Belarusian School Pupils Won at the 23rd International Olympiad in Informatics

Belarusian school pupils won one gold and three silver medals at the 23rd International Olympiad in Informatics, which concluded July 26. 

Gomel school pupil Gennady Korotkevich, repeated winner of numerous international olympiads, once again delivered excellent result – he won gold medal with 600 points out of 600 possible. 

Sergey Kulik and Adam Bardashevich won medals with 443 and 428 points respectively. Another silver medal was won by Gomel pupil Vladislav Podtelkin. 

The 23rd International Olympiad in Informatics took place on July 22-29, 2011 in Pattaya City, Thailand. The awarding ceremony was held in Pattaya Exhibitions and Convention Hall on July 28. 

This year Olympiad welcomed 308 participants from 78 states.

Belarusian pupils were sponsored by HTP resident-company ScienceSoft.

According to the rules of the competition each country-participant is allowed to send a team of four school pupils to the Olympiad. During two five-hour rounds the participants are offered three tasks to solve. Each of the tasks is to develop a program code which must meet the given requirements. A developed program code is estimated automatically by inputting tested data in the program during the Olympiad. Solutions sent to testing are estimated by the number of test groups correctly processed by the program.
