HTP Residents Presented Their Developments during International Congress The Library as a Cultural Phenomenon

Four HTP resident-companies participated in the international congress The Library as a Cultural Phenomenon, held on October 23-24, 2013 in the National Library of Belarus. This year, the two-day forum brought together 400 delegates from 15 countries: Belarus, Belgium, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Sweden.

Leading specialists from libraries, publishing houses, educational and research institutions and organizations, manufacturers of software, hardware and information products met at plenary and section sessions, round tables, discussion and presentation platforms to consider different aspects of the operation of libraries in the information society, technical and technological innovations, problems of staffing and other pressing issues.

The exhibition Electronic Information Resources and Services brought together over 20 companies, which presented their developments: electronic information resources, software and hardware for creation of information retrieval systems and services, digital collections and libraries. The HTP resident-companies PrognozBelSberbank-TechnologiesGame Stream and pi-consult.by were actively involved in the work of the international congress.

The international congress The Library as a Cultural Phenomenon is held annually by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus. It aims at exchanging experience between experts and developing joint solutions to urgent problems in library science. This years event was co-organized by the Hi-Tech Park, among others. Within the framework of the congress a conference Information Society and Society of Knowledge: Role and Place of Libraries was held, and the exhibition Electronic Information Resources and Services was first arranged.
