Belarus-Korea Information Access Center to Open at HTP

The Belarus-Korea Information Access Center will begin its work in the Hi-Tech Park in the fourth quarter of 2014. It will be a multi-functional facility with an internet lounge, an ICT training lab and a conference-hall. The official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Hi-Tech Park and the National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea (NIA) on the establishment of the joint Belarus-Korea Information Access Center was held on April 24, 2014 in HTP.

The Memorandum was signed by Dr. Valery Tsepkalo, HTP Director, and
Dr. Jeongwon Yoon, Executive Director of the Global IT Cooperation Division of NIA.



Valery Tsepkalo: "Our relations are developing very successfully. It is great that we have made this step. I think the result will be establishment of many joint ventures between Korea and Belarus – using this centre as a channel for Belarusian people to learn more about Korea. I am glad that we are on this move and let us believe that our centre will be efficient and successful."

Jeongwon Yoon: "Innovation and attention are the basis for our cooperation. We see a number of interactions between Korea and Belarus. But we can get more attention from both sides. The creation of the Center is the way of making a new step in developing cooperation in the field of innovation entrepreneurship."


The Center will focus on the development of cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Belarus in the field of ICT, the increase of IT literacy among local residents and the promotion and the development of innovation entrepreneurship in the field of ICT.The project is implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of the Republic of Korea. Since 2002, 38 Information Access Centers have been established in 36 countries, including Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Colombia, Dominican Republic and others.
