HTP Opens a Branch of the Department of Economic Information Science, BSEU

13 May 2014

On May 12, 2014 the official opening of a branch of the Department of Economic Information Science, Belarusian State Economic University was held at the Hi-Tech Park.

The opening of branches of university departments is an important step in bringing universities and businesses together, a way to improve the quality of education and competitiveness of graduates from Belarusian universities. The branches of university departments aim at brining the educational process as close as possible to the production.

The branch will start its activities on the premises of the HTP resident-company EPAM Systems in September 2014. As a part of the educational process, advanced educational programs in the following fields will be implemented in the first place: SAP-technology, quality assurance for financial and economic software and processing of financial and economic data. The BSEU teachers will be able to attend advanced training courses at the department; at the same time EPAM professionals will conduct special courses and master classes.

Valery Tsepkalo, Director of the HTP Administration: "Today, the IT industry is actively cooperating with educational institutions; and universities are also trying to get closer to the companies. It is really important because companies have a better understanding of the needs of the economy and the production that exist today worldwide. The HTP resident-companies have long been working with educational institutions, but they were mostly technical universities that graduate programmers. The opening of the BSEU department has a special meaning. As the companies grow and develop, the tasks they perform become more complicated. Today, all processes in modern enterprises, including production management, logistics flows, business process analysis, etc. are based on high technology. And this is already a reality, not the future. We are pleased that our resident-companies are taking on more and more complex projects and so they need not only programmers but also professionals in other sectors of the economy".

Vladimir Lebedev, Director of Informatization Department of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization: "Even in comparison with other sectors of the economy, the development of the IT industry is particularly effective. The opening of such departments ensures that the Hi-Tech Park will continue to develop successfully".

Dr. Andrey Sedun, associate professor, Vice-Rector of the Belarusian State Economic University: "The opening of the branch of the department is really the result of longstanding fruitful work between our university and the HTP, EPAM Systems. The importance of the opening of the department branch is that it allows the educational process to be integrated with the production. I am sure that the opening of the branch will enable our graduates to get good jobs in the future".

Pavel Shagoyko, Director of Business Operations at EPAM Systems in the CIS countries: "EPAM Systems consistently pursue the implementation of its concept of work with educational institutions – we create conditions for greater involvement of graduates (from both specialized and non-specialized universities) into the IT industry. The branches of university departments allow students to visit the company, see its activities and gain additional knowledge. The long history of our cooperation with the Belarusian State Economic University and the high level of training have become an absolutely clear prerequisite for further development of cooperation between EPAM Systems and BSEU".

Note: The Belarusian State Economic University is a leading economic higher education institution in the country; it is continuously developing and searching for effective forms and methods of teaching. Today the BSEU is a comprehensive higher education institution in Belarus which provides training in labor economics and management, finance and banking, accounting and statistics, commerce and business communication technologies, the global economy, economic policy and economic sociology, marketing and logistics, promotional activities and pricing, business law, economics and management in the tourism industry, and environmental economics.
