Softeq and SK Hynix Concluded an Agreement on Acquiring a Dedicated Development Center

24 June 2014

Softeq Development announced entering into an agreement for SK Hynix to acquire the Flash Firmware Division of its subsidiary Softeq Development, FLLC – an HTP resident-company based in Minsk.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Belarusian team of firmware engineers joins SK Hynix, one of the world’s largest suppliers of semiconductor memory chips such as DRAM and NAND, as its Softeq Flash Solutions branch. A SK Hynix official said: "We will be able to have excellent firmware professionals, enhance the competitiveness of NAND flash, and strengthen our R&D capacity through this transaction."

Softeq, including its Belarusian office, will continue to develop custom software, firmware and drivers, as well as provide mobile, web and embedded development services, leveraging its knowledge base and expertise in low-level programming and embedded software solutions acquired throughout the company’s 17-year history.

"It’s a logical step for one of our customers to acquire their dedicated development center, thereby providing a deeper integration of Softeq’s experienced subject-matter experts into their staff," comments Chris Howard, CEO and Founder of Softeq Development Corp. and Director of the newly-founded Softeq Flash Solutions branch of SK Hynix. "We look forward to assisting SK Hynix in securing their new technology base in Belarus and expanding its global R&D network."
