Day of Knowledge at HTP: Benefits of Technical Education at First Hand

In the first week of September, the Hi-Tech Park resident-companies opened their doors for half a thousand of Belarusian students. In Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Orsha, Bobruisk, Gomel and Grodno representatives of the companies spoke on the prospects of technical education and the benefits of working in the IT industry.

Throughout the Day of Knowledge in Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno and Gomel high school students had a possibility to talk with representatives of the HTP resident-companies such as EPAM Systems, Game Stream, Ericpol Brest, Viber Media, IntexSoft and Exadel. Students heard firsthand what working in the IT industry means, and were advised by the experts on what to consider when choosing a university, what subjects to give priority attention to, and what to strive for to become a successful and sought-after specialist. The hugest celebration of the Day of Knowledge was traditionally held in the capital. Representatives of 13 resident-companies told Minsk students about software development features and the latest trends in the IT world.

"It was very interesting to find out what modern high school students want to be and what goals they set for themselves. Choosing a profession is quite a serious issue which should be approached deliberately. We hope that such meetings will help children make the right choice of future profession, perhaps even in the IT sphere. Thanks to the Day of Knowledge at the HTP high school students received a lot of arguments in favor of engineering, computer and othertechnical professions. Jobs in the IT sphere offer great opportunities for career growth and self-realization. Besides, the profession of a programmer is recognized as one of the most popular, sought-after and highly paid in Belarus. Today, IT-companies demand for qualified professionals far exceeds the supply in the labor market and, therefore, knowledge and initiative of university graduates will be in demand.
