India-Belarus Digital Learning Centre in ICT Named After Rajiv Gandhi Opened

The inauguration ceremony of India-Belarus Digital Learning Centre in ICT, established on the basis of HTP, was held on January 12th, 2012.

Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime-Minister, after whom the Learning Center was named, was an outstanding Indian leader and is considered as a symbol of new Indian generation – innovative and technologically advanced.

The Center was created after the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of India was signed in September 17th, 2009.

India-Belarus Digital Learning Centre is dedicated to train IT-specialists and to upgrade qualifications of the professors of Belarusian technical universities.

The inauguration ceremony was opened by:

- Valery Tsepkalo, Director of HTP Administration;

- Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of India;

- Viktor V. Yakzhik, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus;

- Manoj K Bharti, Ambassador of India to Belarus;

- Alexander Martinkevich, Deputy Director of HTP Administration.

The infrastructure of the DLCICT includes training and practical laboratory at the Hi-Tech Park as well as four regional learning centers on the basis of Gomel, Vitebsk, Grodno and Brest State Universities. All five centers can be integrated into one educational complex by means of the video teleconferencing system.

Teaching is conducted by experts of the largest IT-companies, educational and research centers with due regard to modern global tendencies and the expertise of the Hi-Tech Park resident-companies. The educational process relies on practically-oriented courses and the latest distance learning technologies.

Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of India H.E. Sachin Pilot:

“Due to this Centre many Belarusians will be able to receive training in India, where there is a huge mobile market and the quantity of services has been growing in this sphere. India needs such specialists. Developing cooperation with Belarus, India plans to get an access not only the market of Belarus, but also that of other neighboring countries.”

HTP Administration Director Valery Tsepkalo:

”Mobile programming is the most perspective field. Any development which will be performed by our specialists or in cooperation will have unlimited market for applications.In general when we talk about cooperation with India, we mean not only cooperation in ICT, but mutual work in different fields of the national economy, where we have common interests. ”
